FAQ
+ Why do I need to book an appointment?
This is a retail space open to the public, but only by appointment. My business revolves around chocolate events, so I'm happy to have you here when I'm not hosting an event!
I also wish to encourage a different kind of retail experience with chocolate. One which allows you to make it a destination where you can take your time, receive guidance if you wish, and really take it all in.
You can come with yourself, some friends, family, just let me know when you book how many are coming.
As a professional chocolate sommelier, I absolutely love having people visit to browse, learn, and taste. No purchase necessary if all you wish to do is take a look and learn what it's all about.
+ How Do I book?
It's simple. Click the booking link above, select a day and time that works for you. That is it. I'll confirm with you via email right away.
The booking calendar does not work for same day visits. So if you wish to come today and you did not book a time yet, simply call/text/email me to see if I'm available for you to visit. Happy to have you in if I can.
+ How long can I stay?
When you book, you have a guaranteed 30 minute window from the start of your appointment. You may arrive at any time within these 30 minutes (you don't have to come right at the time you booked). You simply have a window of 30 minutes where I will expect you. You can stay the whole time, or you may come and go.
Can you stay for longer? Absolutely! For instance, if you were hoping to stay for a solid couple of hours (to browse and purchase bars, then sit and relax in the tasting room and read), just let me know when you book and I will confirm if it's possible that day. Come with family and friends and enjoy your time together here.
I just ask that if you are going to be very late or have to cancel, please let me know. Sometimes I may go out of my way to be here when you request, so please be considerate.
+ What can I do while I'm here?
- Explore the space
- Browse and sample products
- Purchase products
- Ask for guidance in choosing and understanding the chocolate
- Relax in the tasting room while you enjoy your chocolate or read a chocolate book.
You are not expected to purchase anything when you visit. I'm happy to have you here to learn and see what it's all about.
Since most people are new to craft bean-to-bar, I'm happy to stick by your side and guide you, or if you wish to take time to browse on your own, let me know.
You may also simply come in for a quick purchase as well if you know what you want.
+ Can you tell me more about the chocolate?
The bars here are made from scratch from the cocoa bean (AKA "bean-to-bar") by artisan craft chocolate makers from Canada and around the world, using cacao from around the world.
Makers use fine flavour cacao only from ethical and transparent sources. Feel free to ask about this when you visit. These brands are not Fairtrade certified, which is a good thing, as they go beyond the standards of Fairtrade. Many buy direct from cacao farmers as well.
Ingredients are real, simple, and clean. The bars sold here are just as nutritous, if not more nutritious, than health-food store chocolate (and higher quality).
Majority of chocolate bars and products are:
- Vegan/dairy-free
- Gluten-free
- Nut-free
Keep in mind not all bars are made in gluten-free and nut-free facilities, so may contain traces. I do have a few brands that do have a nut/gluten-free facility.
Some sugar-free dark and milk chocolate (meaning unsweetened) available.
The dark chocolate is not bitter and contain flavours which go beyond simple basic "cocoa" flavour. The milk chocolate is not overly sweet (some are even unsweetened!). And yes, I do carry a small range of real high quality white chocolate.
Please inquire if you have any more dietary questions about the products sold here.
+ What time can I come by?
General drop-in hours: Monday to Saturday 10 AM to 7 PM. If you prefer outside these hours simply contact me first to ask.
+ What form of payments do you accept?
At the moment I accept most major credit cards, debit, and apple pay. I do not offer paper receipts, only digital ones sent to your email or phone.
+ What if I just wish to quickly purchase bars
You're welcome to come and purchase what you need right away. However, if this is the case I also recommend the online shop and having it shipped to your door!
